What Kotu Fish is

Kotu Fish consolidates publicly available fishing regulations from state agencies and presents them in plain language, water by water, with a link to the official source and the date we last checked it. It is an informational tool.

Not legal advice

Kotu Fish is not legal advice and is not a substitute for the official regulations. Regulations change, sometimes mid-season and without notice, and our capture can lag or contain errors. You are responsible for confirming the current, posted rules at the water and with the issuing agency before you fish. We make no warranty that any rule shown is current, complete, or accurate, and we are not liable for citations, fines, or other consequences of relying on the app. The regulations themselves are always free to view.

Accounts

An account is optional and only needed for Premium features. You are responsible for your account and for keeping your sign-in secure. Authentication is handled by Clerk.

Premium and payment

Premium is an optional paid subscription that adds convenience features (offline downloads, push alerts, photo fish ID, gear guidance, limit tracking, calendars). It never gates the regulations. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not see or store your card details. Subscriptions renew automatically at the price shown until canceled. You can cancel anytime from your account; see our refund policy.

Acceptable use

Do not scrape, resell, or redistribute the app's data, and do not use the app to break the law. We may suspend access for abuse.

Fish ID model

The photo fish ID model, including its weights, architecture configuration, and label set, is proprietary to Kotu and licensed to you solely for identifying fish inside the app on your own device. You may not download, extract, copy, redistribute, or host the model; use it or its outputs to train, fine-tune, distill, or benchmark another model; or decompile, disassemble, or otherwise reverse engineer it. Any use of the model outside the app is unlicensed and infringing, and we reserve all rights and remedies against it.

Changes

We may update these terms; material changes will be reflected by the date above. Continued use means you accept the current terms.
